The Silicon Heartland

You may have overheard President Biden's State of the Union Address... Central Ohio is in the news regarding US economic development in a big way. Intel is building the largest silicon manufacturing site in the planet in our own front yard, Licking County.

During an event on Jan. 21, 2022, in Licking County, Ohio, Intel announced plans for an initial investment of more than $20 billion in the construction of two new leading-edge chip factories. The largest single private-sector investment in Ohio history, the project's initial phase is expected to create 3,000 Intel jobs and 7,000 construction jobs over the course of the build, and to support tens of thousands of additional local long-term jobs. Intel also announced they will invest around $100 million in partnership with Ohio Universities and US National Science Foundation to foster talent.

What does this mean for us in the heartland? It means advancement in tech, opportunities, additional homes being built and homeowners, higher salaries, and better jobs overall across every sector. We couldn't be more excited for Licking County and the surrounding areas to experience the growth ahead.
